Mr. James, senior associate attorney with Sanders & Associates, is admitted to practice law in the states of Ohio, Georgia, and North Dakota, as well as to the bars of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Eighth, and Ninth Circuits.
He was elected in November 2019 to a 4-year term as a Trustee of Sycamore Township, Ohio, which is where he lives and where Sanders & Associates maintains its office. The 3-member Board of Trustees is the governing body of that 20,000-resident suburban Cincinnati community. His term commenced in January 2020, and he served as the Board President in 2021.
Mr. James graduated with honors from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political studies and then from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta in 1992.
Practice areas include business and corporate matters, estate planning and probate, insurance coverage, crop insurance, commercial litigation, family business matters, domestic relations and family law, elder law, customs and international trade, creditors rights, arbitration, and appellate practice. He has been involved in or has appeared in legal matters and investigations in several states, including Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.
Before moving to Ohio, Mr. James worked as general counsel to a regional customs brokerage and logistics provider, also serving in management and IT-related roles, and prior to that, as a commercial litigator in Atlanta. Although an attorney by trade, he has sophisticated technical skills, comprehensive and up-to-date computer, networking, and security expertise, and a practical understanding of everyday business and regulatory concerns.
